Publication date
September 6, 2016

Alan Gerber, director of the Center for the Study of American Politics at ISPS, was inducted as a Fellow into the Society for Political Methodology on August 28.  Donald Green, former director of ISPS, was also inducted as a Fellow.

The nominating committee wrote that Gerber and Green “are giants in the study of American politics. Each has made a mark on the study of American politics with major articles on such diverse topics as voter turnout, campaign effects, party identification, political representation, personality and politics, and economic voting.”

In 2014 Professor Gerber was inducted into the American Academy of Political and Social Science (AAPSS) in “recognition of his contributions to the improvement of society through research and influence over public policy.”

Gerber’s most recent book, co-authored with Don Green, Field Experiments: Design, Analysis, and Interpretation, published in 2012, was co-winner of the Best Book Award, American Political Science Association, Experimental Research Section. His book, Get Out the Vote: How to Increase Voter Turnout, also with Don Green and published in 2004, has been widely used by both parties as a go-to guide for increasing election turnout.
